It’s been a little bit of time since my last blog post, but I haven’t been idle. As a matter of fact, I’ve needed to crank out projects faster than normal. That meant having 2 or 3 going at the same time in the apartment which leaves little room for taking pictures. If you follow me on Facebook and Instagram, you can catch all of my makeovers!
I scored a gorgeous depression era dresser from Habitat for Humanity again. This time, it came with a mirror and all of the trim work was in tact. It was simply gorgeous but the finish was tired and scratched.
I decided to give it a MMS Milk Paint makeover by mixing up 2 parts Mustard Seed Yellow and 1 part Ironstone.
Ironstone is a fantastic color to mix in if you want a lighter shade.
I gave the dresser a thorough scuff because the original finish was very glossy and shiny. I didn’t mix in any bonding agent and it chipped beautifully!
I highlighted some of the trim pieces with Farmhouse White to make them pop.
The bottom scallop is my favorite part.
I kept the original hardware too.
Just look at the crackling behind this knob! The paint did this all on its own.
See how the knobs help to tie in the newly refinished wood top?
The mirror has been cleaned but it has some discoloration and irregularities. Given the age of the piece, I think that’s to be expected. The “crown” piece painted and distressed beautifully. It looks like a mirror tiara, doesn’t it?
I’m so pleased to share that this piece will be on display at Painted Table Designsin Elverson.
This gorgeous shop is owned by the wildly talented Brenda Shirk and is nestled next door to Morgantown Coffee House as a part of the Corner Shoppes at Morgantown. Brenda specializes in interior design, home staging, and all things home. She and I have been chatting together for a few months and we feel our businesses compliment each other. I’ll have some of my pieces in her shop and I’ll also be working there a few days a week starting at the end of May. This piece will be on its way tomorrow. Make sure you stop by soon to visit us and drool over all of the pretties at Painted Table!
