A Pair of Artissimo Tables

I usually get lucky at my local Habitat for Humanity ReStores, but my last trip was record setting. After 2 minutes of walking around, one of the workers was wheeling in a cart of newly priced furniture, including 2 sturdy French style end tables. He had barely walked 5 feet beyond the back storage door before I ambushed…ahem…approached him and quickly claimed the tables.

After stripping the old finish, I applied some DIY Driftwood stain. It comes in powder form and is mixed with 1 cup of water. It basically reacts with the tannins in the wood on your project and ebonizes it. It smells a bit like copper pennies as its working, but it does a great job!

I decided to paint the bottom in Miss Mustard Seed’s Artissimo.

It’s a deep and rich navy that looks simply stunning and is one of my favorite colors to use.  After some Furniture Wax and minor distressing, the tables are ready to go!

I picked up the baskets from a local thrift store.  I’ve seen people decorating with them on Pinterest and Instagram and I’ve been dying to replicate the look.

See?  Aren’t they pretty?  Mine are simple and don’t have the patterns that my Pinterest inspiration do, but I still like them all the same.  Plus, they were ridiculously inexpensive at a local thrift store.  Double win!

I finished the tops off with Hemp Oil and they’re simply lovely.  I also like how the shape of these tables makes them a little on the fancy side, but the distressing keeps them from being too fru-fru.  Froo-froo?  Frue-Frue?  How do you spell that adjective anyway?

I think they’re a lovely duo and will lend themselves to a variety of decor styles.  Boho chic, traditional, rustic, etc.

What do you think?

Welcome to my happy place!
