Refinishing an Oak Washstand Using Marzipan by Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint
Washstands are my absolute favorite type of furniture to refinish with Milk Paint.

In my painting career, I’ve refinished close to 30 of them! So when I came upon this solid and sturdy oak washstand on an antiquing trip, I didn’t hesitate to scoop it up.

Choosing a Cozy Color – Marzipan by Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint
When it came time to pick a color for the washstand, I landed on Marzipan in the Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint line.

Marzipan is a warm shade of almond. It’s not your typical “beige” either! It has a sophistication to it.

To keep the color as close to its raw state as possible, I used Furniture Wax by Miss Mustard Seed.

Hemp Oil for the Top and Wax for the Bottom!
Hemp Oil is one of my absolute favorite finishes to use over Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint. With my washstand, however, I opted to just use it to hydrate the naturally gorgeous top.

I simply brushed it on with a natural bristle brush, and then wiped away the excess with a lint-free cloth.

To draw the eye to the gorgeous dowel joinery and hydrate the wood, I applied some on the drawers too!

For the base, I applied buttery soft Furniture Wax by Miss Mustard Seed.

This museum-quality wax is SO EASY to apply! Use a quality wax brush to massage it into the surface. Then, use a lint-free cloth to gently buff away the excess. It’s not tacky, doesn’t have any strong odor whatsoever and goes on like whipped cake frosting. It’s my favorite wax to use!
