Marc and I have been super busy these last few days moving furniture around. We shuffled some pieces out of the workshop to get them ready for their pretty staged photo shoots. Then, we moved more projects in the waiting downstairs and rearranged my stash in the workshop. To crown it all off, we moved my furniture out of my current room at Homestead Studios across the hallway into a new room!
So I used to have one of the front rooms with two lovely windows. It was a pass-through room which connected the front foyer with the rooms in the back.
loved this space and it was so bright and cheerful when the sun was out.
An opportunity came up to take a room across the hallway that was being used for workshops. The problem was that it was sitting vacant most of the time and only being used a few times a month for workshop events. It made more sense for me to move in there so there were items on display all the time.
So this weekend, Marc and I rolled up our sleeves and transferred my furniture, home decor and General Finishes paint products across the hall. I’m so happy to share my new space with all of you!
So when you come up the stairs to the second floor, I’m in the first room on the right. It’s right at the top of the stairs and it’s quite a substantially sized space!
I was able to fit all of my existing pieces in there along with all of the General Finishes products PLUS some pieces I had outside!
The Coastal Blue desk/vanity pictured above has sold already and it set to be delivered soon. The gorgeous Amsterdam Green dresser behind it is still available!
As you round around the back of the room, I have this sweet piece nestled in between sets of closet doors.
This little guy is fascinating! The outside has original grain painting all over it. The inside is rich and warm wood with 3 deep storage drawers. It sits up on chunky legs complete with wooden casters. The pulls are original and the entire piece has hand-cut dovetails.
Underneath the back window, I placed this incredible 6.5 foot long church pew. I had a local carpenter add some more support to it, and now it’s ready for years of love and use. It’s been layered with oodles of General Finishes products including Java Gel Stain, Gray Gel Stain, Winter White Glaze Effects, and Exterior 450 sealer. It’s got charm, character and would make a lovely addition to your entranceway or covered porch!
In the front corner, Marc helped me rearrange my paint shelves and now my General Finishes products sit happily in the same room as my furniture.
This tall and slender shelf has all of my topcoat options along with the water based wood stains.
The larger white shelf has all of the milk paints, glaze effects, extender and oil based gel stains.
Next to that shelf, by the entrance to the room, I’ve placed all of my ClingOn! brushes. You can see into my old room in the background in the shot below.
I took all of my Christmas decor out, so I need to go shopping in my workshop stash for more “everyday” small items to round everything out. But for now, it looks amazing and I’m so thankful for all of the room!
The display in the middle of the room was fun to put together. I stacked some smaller pieces I had on hand to create some height and interest. These items can easily be moved off to the side when it comes time to host workshops or demonstrations.
I don’t have any scheduled quite yet, but keep your eyes open on my Facebook page when they go live!
