white wax – The easiest way to whitewash!
There are lots of different ways to create a whitewashed look on a piece of furniture. One of the easiest ways is to use Miss Mustard Seed’s White Wax! This museum-quality wax is spreadable, doesn’t have any harsh odors and is a sealer and tinter all in one!

Applying White Wax is easy. Simply brush on with a wax brush and wipe away the excess. That’s basically it!
To demonstrate how easy it is, I’ve made a tutorial video showing how I used White Wax to finish off the dresser drawers of my most recent piece.

Miss Mustard Seed’s White Wax was the perfect touch to tie the raw wood drawers together with the custom color I mixed up.

I am crazy about this piece and the whitewash looks like such an easy technique!! Great work Jenn😊😊
Thank you, Cindy! It turned out to be a very sweet piece 🙂
Hi Jennifer,
I have a question. I loved the piece you painted in General Finishes ‘Coastal Blue’, so I decided to paint my daughters powder room cupboard in it. It turned out really pretty, but very dark. More like a navy. Is it because I sanded heavily? I used a belt sander with 80, 120, and then 220. There were a lot of varnish drips and just overall bad finish. My camera phone does it no justice. Thanks, Deb
Hi Deb! General Finishes Coastal Blue is a very rich navy. If it appears dark, that’s true to color. If you want to lighten it up, you can always glaze over it or repaint in a lighter color.
